Practice and feedback
The purpose of practice is to learn from the attempt. Coglen’s approach brings the question, your answer and useful feedback together.
One question at a time
Section titled “One question at a time”Answer the question in ChatGPT. Feedback and the next question belong in the same reply, so you do not have to keep asking to continue.
Understanding mistakes
Section titled “Understanding mistakes”Feedback should explain the reasoning behind an incorrect or partially correct answer. For multiple-choice questions, this includes the alternatives. A confident correct choice receives a concise confirmation.
If you are unsure, say so. Your confidence and the correctness of your answer are different kinds of information.
A useful next step
Section titled “A useful next step”Answers inform which topic to revisit and what to practise next. A correct streak does not establish mastery of an entire syllabus or guarantee exam readiness.
Check important information
Section titled “Check important information”AI feedback can be mistaken. Compare important answers with authoritative course materials and raise a concern when an explanation does not fit. Generated practice questions are not official exam questions.
Research behind the approach
Section titled “Research behind the approach”Read about the evidence for retrieval practice, practice over time and formative feedback, including the limits of what it tells us about Coglen.
